Halloween

Halloween

Though for the day:

Be just a little bit silly today. Dress up, were a goofy hat, or sock that don't match, whatever it might be. You can get away with things like that on Halloween, so, why not take advantage of that fact and have a little fun?

I like this holiday. I really enjoy passing out candy at the door. We moved to a rural area last year and I was sorely disappointed with the turn out. I had a nice large bowl of candy ready to go and only ONE Trick-or-Treating child came. I am hoping for a better turn out this year.

Many Montessori schools do not do much celebrating for this holiday. When you allow any kind of "dress-up" day some people will over-due it and make it uncomfortable, scary, or out-of-control for everyone. When I had my own school I did not see it that way. My school was small so I was able to talk to the parents directly and keep thing somewhat "under-control".

But, what I want to know is, why is being a bit "out-of-control" once in a while a bad thing. It can be a very good thing. It can create learning and teaching moments not ordinarily brought out in the regular day to day routine. I say, have some fun, be a little scary, have a couple of pieces of chocolate, and behave yourself tomorrow,

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
;) ;] :} :{ :[
Make a funny face too!

Take care,
MissT
