My Summer in Photos

I would like to share with all of you some of what I have been doing this summer. As a teacher that does not work during the summer months I try to take advantage of my "down time" to get things done that would be difficult to do during the school year.

One of my projects this summer was to record my second CD of children's song to be used in the classroom. My first CD, Songs about Famous Artists has been out for about 3 years and I thought it was time to try my hand at another one. This time I did not limit the subject matter to one area. This CD, which will be ready in late October or early November, has songs about Math, Science, and Artists. I am thinking about calling it, Arts and Smarts with MissT.

Photography has been another project that I have spent time with this summer. Digital photography makes us look much more talented than we really are. I have been taking pictures of the "wildlife" in my yard. I have birds, butterflies, grasshoppers, flies, etc... in my yard and on my deck. Who know they could be such good subjects for pictures. I will post some of my photos so you can see what I have been up to.

Have a great day and try to learn something new!
Take care,
MissT

  1. Hey "MissT"!

This is very cool! This type of activity would tie nicely in with the topic of Richard Louv's book, Last Child in the Woods. The book discusses new research that indicates exposure to nature impacts healthy childhood development. There are so many cool technological activities (recreational and educational) available now that kids are spending less and less time outside. I haven't read the book yet, but have read other information on the topic and want to read his book this fall. (He came to Omaha this spring and presented, but I wasn't able to attend...bummer) here is the link to his site if you are interested:

    Have a happy day!

  2. Dear Anji,
Thanks so much for the comment to this blog. You are the first! I agree with what you said about children and nature. I have read some of the book, Last Child in the Woods, his observations are very telling about our society. Just remember, we are influenced by society, but we do not have to be dictated to. We all have the ability to make good choices for ourselves and our families.
    Take care,
    MissT
